    Sales Support Associate

    Position Summary

    This is a newly created position. Reporting to the Senior Partner and working with the sales team, the incumbent will be responsible for ongoing administrative and sales operations involving our clients and potential clients. The incumbent must have or be willing to acquire the appropriate Nova Scotia license to service and sell life and health insurance products in order to assist in the administrative and sales responsibilities of this position.


    Position Responsibilities

    • Assist in growing blocks of business in the employee benefits, life and health fields with adherence to TFI’s operational principles and standards leading to the enhancement of TFI’s bottom line

    • Work with existing and potential TFI clients to analyze current coverage and recommend/prepare proposals where new products could better address client needs or where existing products would enhance their business opportunities

    • Develop and strengthen business relationships and trust with clients and prospective clients with a demonstrated commitment to their interests and priorities

    • Analyze the communication needs of TFI with the focus on growing the company’s base; draft marketing materials including brochures, ads and the visual presentation of the company’s brand for the sales group’s review

    • Develop and present briefing sessions for the sales team related to changes and needs of our prospects and clients

    • Initiate client care calls on a regular and rotating schedule providing service, record keeping, problem resolution, etc.

    • Draft and send correspondence specific to the needs of the Senior Partner—quotes, proposals, renewals, etc. adhering to the administrative processing to ensure that clients’ needs/choices are communicated effectively, accurately and in accordance with all appropriate confidentiality regulations

    • Accompany the Senior Partner on service and client calls, professional development seminars and training programs. Upon completion of the probationary period, the incumbent will initiate these calls and appointments

    • Maintain full knowledge of products and services available to and provided by TFI

    • Work as a member of a collaborative team with trust and respect for each member

    • Other responsibilities as they arise.


    Position Specifics

    • Office hours: 8:30- 5:00 week days. The incumbent must be prepared to work with clients and prospective clients, participate in networking and promotional events beyond the boundaries of the office hours

    • Vacation: two weeks annual (three weeks at five-year anniversary)

    • Sick time: five days annual

    • Statutory and provincial holidays—non-working days

    • Probationary period: 90 days if incumbent holds the appropriate Nova Scotia license to service and sell life and health insurance products. Otherwise, the incumbent will be required to obtain the appropriate Nova Scotia license as noted within a six-month period. The probationary period will extend through this timeframe of up to six months for the acquisition of the appropriate license

    • Some travel will be required…incumbent must have valid driver’s license

    • Salary: $38,000 - $40,000 pending qualifications

    • Benefits: Incumbent will be covered by company benefits plan upon successful completion of the probationary period.



    The incumbent must have or be willing to acquire the appropriate Nova Scotia license to service and sell life and health insurance products in order to assist in the administrative and sales responsibilities of this position. While preference will be given to applicants with the appropriate license, applicants with proven sales records who are interested in entering the life and health benefits fields and who are willing to acquire the appropriate sales license will be considered. 

    • A self-starter with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, a team player with a strong work ethic who works with minimal supervision

    • Undergraduate degree or diploma with a focus/concentration in business and communication or marketing and experience in a competitive environment

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt quickly to daily changes

    • Ability to set priorities and multi-task

    • Ability to use and adapt to product software—MS Office, email, internet, etc.

    • A minimum of two years of experience in the insurance industry in a sales and/or administrative role

    • Criminal Record Check required.
